Background:
Women’s Education for Advancement and Empowerment (WEAVE) Foundation works in partnership with ethnic minority women on the Thai-Myanmar border and Thai villages surrounding the refugee camps in Mae Hong Son and Tak, Northern Thailand. WEAVE believes that the empowerment of women and the development of their status benefit the whole community. WEAVE’s projects address many of the key problems faced by these women and their children through two main thrusts: women’s economic empowerment and early childhood development. The Foundation gives them opportunity to improve through education, confidence building and skills development.
WEAVE, in collaboration with the Karenni refugee education and other service providers, is implementing a 3 years Multi Lingual Education (MLE) for Kindergarten children.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Finance and Administration staff will ensure that the project produces timely and quality financial information which is in line with the set procedures and timetables as well as in take the lead in organizing and coordinating office and Thai Administration work essential towards the completion of the MLE tasks across the team.
General functions and responsibilities:
Administration and Management:
Take the lead in providing timely, quality and efficient administrative assistance to the MLE project and staff.
Assist in coordinating Thai and office administration (camp pass) to ensure timely travels of project staff and smooth implementation of refugee camp-based activities.
Management Accounting and Book Keeping:
Take the lead in implementing planned budget
Assist in the review of monthly budget variance reports
Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly variance reports
Assist in preparing the semi-annual and annual expenditure report for PCF
Assist in the consolidation of quarterly reports for the Project Director
Assist in the review of payroll recons for all PCF grants and recommend necessary adjustments
Produce timely MLE project financial information and reports which is in line with set procedures and timetables.
Assist in the preparation of the annual audit. Maintain at all times high moral and integrity in the performance of his duty.
Minimum work requirement:
The applicant must be an ‘Indigenous person’ from Thailand
Knowledge and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Accountancy or Business Administration
Diploma in Accountancy or related courses and 2 (two) years’ experience in bookkeeping and accounting
Added Advantage: appropriate financial accounting qualifications
Kayah, Burmese or English language
Skills and Abilities:
Computer Literate
Self-motivated, dynamic, creative and energetic
Has good interpersonal relations skills
Possess positive attitude to working in multi-ethnic/diverse setting
Possess flexibility to do multi-tasking and to work under pressure
Can work with minimal supervision and a team player
Possess driving license
Salary range is between 12,000-15,000 Thai Baht. Provision of standard staff benefits applies.
